Green issues have come to the forefront for businesses and individuals alike and when planning its 2008 Australasian team conference, the Walker Wayland group decided to review this trend from a business perspective.

The theme of the conference, held earlier this year in Wellington, was “Clean & Green” with a variety of sessions by independent speakers focusing on practical green issues.

These included:

  • Green Tick by Susan Harris from Hyder Consulting. Susan is an environmental scientist and planner with experience in developing and implementing environmental systems and management plans, environmental risk assessments, sustainability assessments, audits, management and large scale strategic planning at corporate level
  • How am I considering the environment? Mind Your Own Business by Vander Vagh, Angus Ogilvie and Chris Wells, MYOB NZ
  • Green buildings: the future is here by Quentin Jackson and Patrick Arnold, ecubed Building Workshop Limited, a leader in the design of buildings for improved indoor environmental quality. Ecubed has developed a new type of energy audit, a Design Audit, which uses computer simulation along with a standard energy audit to help understand the energy effects of a proposed design. This has been successfully used on both new and existing buildings
